Tom also delivers training in

such as Nissan, Taco Bell,
Transamerica and NBC/Universal.
Originally trained as a
classical actor, Tom received a
Bachelor of Fine Arts degree
from The Juilliard School, Drama
Division. Before founding
Essential Communications, he was
a professional actor for more
than twenty years appearing in
over 100 plays, films and
episodes of television. On the
other side of the footlights
stage productions under his
direction garnered thirteen
theater critics' awards,
including five for him
personally as Best Director.
Tom is Past President of the Los
Angeles chapter of the American
Society of Training and
Development. He lives in Studio
City where he is dad to Samantha
and Julia.

NANCY BREUER
Nancy Breuer has taught writing skills for more
than twenty-five years. Known as an engaging and
inspiring coach, she has a
track record of
helping high potentials, mid-career executives
and individuals whose writing skills limit their
careers.

An accomplished writer herself, Nancy has
published an article used as a model of writing
to solve problems and present solutions in
The Simon and Schuster Guide to Writing
(1994); HIV education materials for several
pharmaceutical companies; articles for human
resources, insurance and business journals;
guides to self-care for living with
life-threatening illness; and award-winning
video scripts.
Nancy serves as executive editor for
publications of the American Society for
Training and Development, Los Angeles Chapter.
She earned a B.A. in American studies from
Middlebury College, VT, and an M.A. in theology
and management from Fuller Theological Seminary
in Pasadena, CA. She holds a Certificate in
Management and Quality Improvement in
Multicultural Work Environments from California
State University, Fullerton.
She lives in Ventura County, CA with her husband
in an eco-friendly, solar-powered home they
built in 2002.

STEVE DEGELSMITH
Dr. Steve Degelsmith is an expert in human
interaction, communication, anger, and violence
in the workplace. He offers training, coaching,
and consulting to improve interpersonal
effectiveness and increase safety in the
workplace. |
Steve’s dynamic training style makes learning
meaningful in such subjects as collaborative
communication skills, managing conflict,
reducing stress, handling anger, and preventing
violence at work. He provides mediation and team
conflict interventions. Steve has also worked in
the Employee Assistance Field (EAP) for almost
20 years providing on-site employee counseling,
and crisis response services.
Educated and trained in psychological systems,
communications theory, psychology of the
workplace, and interpersonal dynamics, Dr.
Degelsmith received his Master’s degree in
Education from the University of Southern
California, and his Doctorate in Psychology at
the California Graduate Institute in Los
Angeles.
Some of the organizations with whom Steve has
worked include Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Loyola
Marymount University, The Los Angeles Zoo,
Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles Unified
School District, and International Truck &
Engine (Navistar).
Steve lives in Northridge, California with his
wife of 25 years and enjoys time with his
family, including his two grandchildren.

CHRISTINE GRIMM
Christine Grimm has coached the senior leaders

Christine helps leaders develop a plan to hold
people accountable; this includes translating
strategy and goals into simple terms and
developing processes to keep people on track and
committed.
Christine’s style is very interactive and
high-energy whether in one on one engagements or
group sessions. Her focus is always to help
participants acquire new skills and to create
behavior change that is immediately applicable
in both their personal and professional lives.
Originally trained as a teacher at Pepperdine
University, Christine earned her California
Teaching Credential and a Bachelors Degree in
Social Science and Education. She is a master
trainer for both the Team Effectiveness Model
and the DiSC Behavior Styles model.
